Role Plays
INSTRUCTIONS:
Each pair of students will receive a scenario, a mini dialogue, an audio recording of the dialogue, and an image illustration. Using these tools, students will expand the provided dialogue into a longer conversation (4-6 exchanges). After preparing, they will present their expanded dialogue to the class, using the audio and illustrations to enhance their presentation. Scenarios include winning the lottery, dream job, superpower, time travel, unlimited money, celebrity encounter, perfect vacation, dream house, perfect day, and ideal job.
Role Play 1: Winning the Lottery
Scenario: Both student buy lottery tickets. They discuss what they would do with the money.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Lottery Winner): “If I won the lottery, I would travel the world.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you traveled the world, which country would you visit first?”
Role Play 2: Dream Job
Scenario: One student imagines having their dream job and another is their career counselor. They talk about what they would do in their dream job.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Job Seeker): “If I were a famous chef, I would open my own restaurant.”
- Student 2 (Career Counselor): “If you opened your own restaurant, what kind of food would you serve?”
Role Play 3: Superpower
Scenario: One student imagines having a superpower and another is their friend. They discuss what they would do with the superpower.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Superhero): “If I could fly, I would explore the world from above.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you explored the world from above, what would you want to see most?”
Role Play 4: Time Travel
Scenario: One student imagines they can time travel and another is their friend. They talk about where and when they would go.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Time Traveler): “If I could travel back in time, I would visit ancient Egypt.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you visited ancient Egypt, what would you want to see?”
Role Play 5: Unlimited Money
Scenario: One student imagines having unlimited money and another is their financial advisor. They discuss what they would do with the money.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Wealthy Person): “If I had unlimited money, I would donate to charity.”
- Student 2 (Financial Advisor): “If you donated to charity, which causes would you support?”
Role Play 6: Celebrity Encounter
Scenario: One student imagines meeting their favorite celebrity and another is their friend. They discuss what they would do if they met the celebrity.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Fan): “If I met my favorite celebrity, I would ask for an autograph.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you got an autograph, where would you keep it?”
Role Play 7: Perfect Vacation
Scenario: One student imagines having a perfect vacation and another is their travel agent. They discuss what they would do on the vacation.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Traveler): “If I could go on a perfect vacation, I would visit Hawaii.”
- Student 2 (Travel Agent): “If you visited Hawaii, what activities would you do?”
Role Play 8: Dream House
Scenario: One student imagines having their dream house and another is their real estate agent. They talk about what the house would be like.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Homebuyer): “If I could build my dream house, it would have a swimming pool.”
- Student 2 (Real Estate Agent): “If your dream house had a swimming pool, how often would you use it?”
Role Play 9: Perfect Day
Scenario: One student imagines having a perfect day and another is their friend. They discuss what they would do on the perfect day.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Dreamer): “If I could have a perfect day, I would spend it at the beach.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you spent the day at the beach, what activities would you do?”
Role Play 10: Ideal Job
Scenario: One student imagines having their ideal job and another is their friend. They talk about what they would do in the ideal job.
Dialogues:
- Student 1 (Job Seeker): “If I were a famous author, I would write novels.”
- Student 2 (Friend): “If you wrote novels, what genre would you choose?”
