Lesson 10 — I Didn’t Go Out

This is the life…

When I was younger, I didn’t have a house. I didn’t have a chair, a table, or even a bed. I didn’t have much money, and I didn’t worry about comfort. I didn’t stay in one place for long. Some days, I didn’t know where I would sleep, and some nights, I didn’t sleep at all. I didn’t feel scared, but I didn’t feel safe either.

Back then, I didn’t own many things. I didn’t have a phone, and I didn’t watch TV. I didn’t cook at home because I didn’t have a kitchen. I didn’t sit down after a long day because there was nowhere to sit. I didn’t complain, but I didn’t rest much. Life was simple, but it wasn’t easy.

I didn’t think about the future. I didn’t plan my days. I didn’t save money, and I didn’t imagine a different life. I just moved forward, one day at a time. I didn’t feel rich, but I didn’t feel empty. I learned patience, and I learned to wait.

Now things are different. I have a house. I have a chair where I can sit and think. I don’t rush anymore. I don’t worry about where I will sleep. When I look around, I smile and think, this is the life.
